Viet Nguyen-Dau didn’t always set out to create an HOA management company. His path started years earlier when he worked directly with homeowners who were dealing with stressful insurance claims. He spent his days answering questions, explaining confusing details, and helping families feel grounded during situations that often felt overwhelming. Those early experiences taught him something important: people want to feel heard. They want clarity. They want someone who shows up when it matters.
Later, Viet joined RealPage and began working with HOA management companies across the country. He visited offices, trained teams, listened to boards, and saw how communities really function behind the scenes. The patterns became hard to ignore. Boards were waiting too long for answers. Homeowners felt brushed off. Financials lacked transparency. Technology was outdated. Communication felt inconsistent and reactive.
Communities were trying their best, but the support systems around them weren’t keeping up.
That realization is what sparked the idea for TrueNorth Community Management. Instead of repeating the same old approach, Viet wanted to build something better.
